How would you like to live in a house built over water? Richard and I get to find out what it's like soon.
We haven't left yet, but I thought I should get a post up before we got any closer to our departure date. We've got so many tasks and last-minute to-do items, that I fear I wouldn't be able to post an advisory unless I did it right now.
Our destination is a small island on the eastern side of Borneo. (Click map to enlarge it.)
We'll be staying at Sipidan Water Village. There's nothing to do there but scuba dive, so that's what we'll do.
That, and take pictures. In fact, during this dive, I'll get certified as an underwater photographer. I've already completed the class and book work, so next I'll go on a few dives with my instructor -- the dive shop owner -- to gain a new set of skills.
We leave Monday on a flight out of San Francisco around noon, arriving -- after about 18 hours -- in Singapore. Then we sleep in a hotel for a few hours, board another plane, then a bus, and finally, a boat, to get to the resort at 2 in the afternoon on Wednesday!!!
I guess if we remember that their time is 16 hours ahead of ours, that doesn't seem quite so bad. But now I understand why we are gone so many days for just 7 nights at the resort.
As usual, I'll share highlights regularly via facebook while we're there, and via this blog after our return March 1.
I'd love to live in a house over the water - as long as the water stayed calm all the time! It looks beautiful - you should have a great time. Looking forward to your posts and pictures.

These pictures should be stupendous, since your mom is getting her underwater photography certification. Youll see some amazing stuff.
