Katie reaches her goal

 

 

 

 

 

 

After 30 days of selling after school and all day on Saturdays, Katie reached her goal of selling 3000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies.  This is 10% of all the cookies sold in Pacifica and Daly City.  The next scout under Katie sold 600 boxes.  Last year Katie sold top for the area at 750 boxes, but she made it a goal then that this year she would go for the top prize.  At 1000 boxes she earned a Kindle, at 1200 a Camcorder, at 1500 a Rockboard scooter, at 1500 a Mini Notebook and at 3000 an IPad2..all the prizes are cumulative.  I'm just wondering if it will still be an IPad 2 or if they will bump it up to the new one.  We'll keep you posted.  She wrote in an essay last week that if she completed this goal she knew that she could accomplished any task ahead of her.  I'm sure she will never forget this experience.  Thanks also for those that donated boxes to the military, food bank or shelter.  She had over 100 boxes in donations.

On The Road -- Baby's Here!

An update for those of you not on Facebook: Brittney and Chris' baby Lily arrived at about 3 am Monday morning. She's got lots of dark hair. Brittney will be going home Tuesday. After that, I bet we get to see some photos.

Star Performance

Last week Marcus starred in his second grade play as Bully the Bull Frog.  We were all blown away by how well he knew his lines and how well he sang (he was the only child with solo parts)!  I posted a link to the video on Facebook, but thought some of you might have missed it.  The videos were taken with my phone, so the picture isn't the best, but you can hear pretty well.  I may be a little biased, but I think it really is worth the 4 mins to watch them--especially the last song.  :-)

Sarah Gets Her First Haircut

 

After 2 years, 4 months and 21 days on this planet, Sarah finally had her first haircut today. Matthew is quite possibly on the verge of needing his first as well soon, but could go another few months, to be honest. Braden is nowhere near considering it.

Not only did Sarah get a lollipop, but she got her hair cut in an amazing barbershop for kids. She even got a certificate for her first cut and hair samples for her baby book. Not bad!

Matthew Introduces Us to Tech Brands

Matthew and Sarah's development hasn't slowed one bit since the arrival of their little brother.

Both are talking up a storm, clearly expressing their opinions and preferences. I am amused at what they hear us say often, and what they can't repeat. Given my own habits, words they hear often include brands, such as Apple, Google and Diet Coke (all of which are heard very well).

This evening, I sat Matthew down to give him a little quiz. Here was the result! Note that I am also very pleased with the still from the video. Big grin from Matthew!

On Due Date, Braden Is 1 Month Old

As Kristine mentioned on her blog, Braden reached a month old on his due date Friday. He joined us on August 24th, and all the "due date" apps and Web services were planning on his showing up somewhere between September 20th and 23rd. As you know from our history, we have a tendency to bring our babies into the world a bit early, and we can't complain. Braden, despite his small stature, has been a great baby. 

Having some fun with him this evening, I took some quick shots of Braden in my office (on a black Google beanbag). These aren't posed - of course... posing a one-month old is practically impossible.

Also a small milestone... today he reached seven pounds. Upward and onward. The twins are used to having this "baby" in their home and take every opportunity to hold him and give him a pacifier.

A LITTLE HISTORY

This is a picture of my uncle Frank (George Frank Murray), my father's brother. It was taken in Japan about 1938 - 39. He took my sister (Peggy) with  him. The plan was that when they got back, he was to take me.

Of course the war started and they had to cut the trip short. The war between China and Japan started before we got into it on 12-7-1941.

It was a wonderful adventure for Peggy. She still has great memories and some not so great.

Frank was the oldest of three brothers: Frank, Roger and my father, Harold Gaynor Murray.

Frank's job took him all around the world. I'm not sure exactly what that job was, but I think it had to do with import and exporting. Later in worked at the United Nations as an interpreter.

He made several visits to Sacramento. Mother said that Frank only came around when he had money. It has been told that he made several million dollars, but also lost several million. He died in a Veteran's hospital with no money. To my knowledge, he never married. Roger was my favorite. We wrote letters to each other for many years.

Braden Comes Home, Meets Matthew & Sarah

After spending nearly a week in the NICU, Braden made his way home today, which is fantastic. He got to meet Matthew and Sarah, who are delighted, surprised and eager to meet their little brother.
I captured the scene on film for you. Right now, I am typing one handed, and patting our newest houseguest with the other.
