Magic: The Gathering -- still being played

Don't know if all of you who play Magic are familiar with the Wizards of the Coast site, but I think it is beautifully-designed. It is fun to read the background stories of the worlds and characters. I had to get myself a pack of the latest set of cards and am eager to try them out next time we can get a few players together!

Hating Facebook Scrabble

PLEASE DON’T STOP READING THIS UNTIL YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS IS, AS I’D LIKE YOUR HELP.

Travian is an on-line game. You don’t need to play, even though I think it would be fun if you did. Regardless, if you would just sign on, we can play for you, so you don’t really have to do this yourself.

So, now the details. Travian is a medieval conquest game that requires one to build up a village using resources to get what you need, then you get to build up your troops who conquer others, etc. Building an alliance allows one to have support and reinforcement from other players. That’s where you come in: Jeremy, Cameron and I are already playing on one server, but what I have envisioned is that all the Murray women and step-sister, their offspring, spouses, and spouses relatives (Nancy, Rob and Jessica, etc.) can all establish themselves in the same quadrant of the game and have a ready-made alliance, with direction from Cameron and Jeremy, who already have experience in what to do, and how to do it. 

Guess where????

OK - Anyone know where and what this is??? No prize, only glory (and my surprised admiration) if you can guess. All can play, except Shairna, as I told her what I was doing! (Sorry, kiddo!) Of course, I'm hoping that it's not too easy. Clues only if you're stumped.

Clumsy contest

In the spirit of Forest Gump ("Stupid is as stupid does.") I thought I'd share my most recent clumsy moment with you and invite you to do the same.

Yesterday I came home from work early and thought I'd reward myself for working so hard at the conference last week by reading a book in Molly's hammock.

Unfortunately, as I was trying to settle in, the hammock spun me out, throwing me Hard on the ground in such a way that I sprained my right ankle and have been hobbling ever since.

What is the most embarrassing clumsy thing you've done lately, or what incredibly clumsy act have you witnessed someone else performing?

Game Glitch Makes 7-Inch NFL Player

I haven't seen this for myself, not owning any of the popular video game consoles, but I found a CNET News.com story on a bug in the latest Madden NFL game that resulted in a New York Jets lineman only being seven inches tall! Talk about getting ribbed in the locker room...

Apparently a typo in the game's database for his height resulted in the bug, which shows him microscopically beating the competition. His character is the same, but if he were to somehow recover a fumble and run with the ball, the football with hide him completely, conjuring up the idea of little ants moving the pigskin down the field. I just found this amusing.

I decided I need to learn how to play at least a couple of video games so that when we get together we can do something you all like to do, and not just cards & croquet.  ;-)
