Make Ken Feel Welcome

While we're on vacation Ken Flask will be watching the house.  We want him to have a good experience, so I was hoping each of you would give him a piece of advice to help him out.  Since I'm starting I'll give two:

1. Dont wet the bed - if you do the washer and dryer are in the utility room.

2. If Laszlo seems depressed the whole time we're gone, dont feel bad.  It's not about you.

Grade Scales

Examgrade4aBack when I taught high school English, I was sometimes overwhelmed on "Book Report Fridays." Not too surprising, considering I had 5 sections of about 35 students each.

Colleagues used to joke about scoring papers via the "Stair Method," where you toss the papers down stairs and assign a grade according to where it landed.

I always thought that was funny, but never saw an illustration of it until this week when I was searching for an image.

Just imagine the defense a teacher would have to come up with to justify this process!  ;-D
